Seconde rencontre avec ce piano Erard dans un lieu chargé d’Histoire, suite à découverte et mise au ton ce 13 mai.
Constat: lors d’un remontage en cordes, le réparateur a pris quelques libertés. Les bouclettes d’accroche, si typiques chez Erard, ont été remplacées par des bouclettes allemandes. Les enroulements autour des chevilles auraient pu bénéficier de plus de zèle.
Le bloc d’étouffoirs nécessite plusieurs dizaines d’heures de main d’œuvre pour recouvrer sa raison d’être.
Un long travail de remise aux cotes « Erard » des rapports de leviers de l’ensemble des pièces articulées est indispensable, pour offrir une palette de nuances à l’expression des pianistes. En chantier…
2d encounter with this Erard grand piano, set in a sumptuous historic castle, where winter days could be quite « fresh », as witnessed on May 13th.
Instrument restrung without zeal a few decennials back. Exit the typical Erard strings loops on the hitch pins, replace by simple German loops. Obviously coiling properly the new strings onto the tuning pins was not on the agenda.
Major work has to be done of the dampers bloc. Keyboard and action have to be attented to, then regulated to the Erad standards.
At this stage, piano concertistes confronted with the instrument better be experienced with the art of plying a piano-forte.
