Piano Tuning

Aural piano tuning is the traditional method which consists of setting the pitch of a piano, balancing the intervals of sounds so that they are musical. Hands and ears work together, to set the pitch and to temper the scale of the instrument through the tension of the strings so it will stay in tune. One tuning a year is a must given the changes in weather in the Alps where we're located.

Piano tuning is a trade. Daily practice is the only way to achieve good and stable tuning jobs.Aural piano tuning : a skilled trade

Our tuning technique:
We work with a tuning fork and a tuning hammer and do aural tuning.

Why do pianos go out of tune ?

A cast iron frame is only one part of a piano. The harmonic structure consists of various wood parts, which are affected by the slighest change of temperature and of humidity. The number of playing hours is also a factor.

When :

Piano manufacturers recommend a minimum of 1 to 2 tunings a year .
